Venus D. Boston serves as the Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of the University at Lincoln University in Lincoln University, Pennsylvania, the nation's first degree-granting Historically Black College and University. As the university's attorney, she provides advice and counsel and maintains responsibility for the supervision and administration of Risk and Compliance and Title IX. [1][2]
Boston joined Lincoln University in 2022. She previously spent eight years at Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) in North Carolina, where she served in the Assistant and then Deputy Chief Legal Counsel roles and also taught as an Adjunct Professor of Business Law in the College of Economics and Finance. Prior to her work in higher education, she worked for the Washington County Public School District in eastern North Carolina, where she served as the Family and Community Engagement Coordinator and Legal Advisor. Earlier in her career she completed a judicial clerkship with a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina and worked as a law clerk under two United States Attorneys. Boston is a three-time honors graduate of North Carolina Central University (NCCU), earning a Bachelor of Arts in English in 2004, a Master of Public Administration in 2006, and a Juris Doctorate from the NCCU School of Law in 2012. In law school she received the Floyd McKissick Award for outstanding leadership and academics. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. [1][2]
A NACUA member since 2014, Boston has served as the leader of the organization's African American Affinity Group and as a member of the Board Advisory Council on Diversity and Inclusivity and the Committee on Strategic Planning. In 2023, she received NACUA's First Decade Award, and she serves on the NACUA Board of Directors. Additional honors include the Winston Under 40 Award for Outstanding Young Leaders and the NCCU 40 Under 40 Award. [2]
