Priya Harjani

Priya Harjani serves as Senior Associate Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at Northwestern University ^[1]. In that role she helps manage the Office of General Counsel and advises leadership and administrators on a broad range of legal issues, and she handles high-profile litigation matters for the university ^[1]. Her practice is centered on higher education law.

Harjani first joined Northwestern University in 2004 and has held the roles of Assistant General Counsel, Associate General Counsel, Senior Associate General Counsel, and Associate Vice President and Deputy General Counsel before her promotion to her present role, effective January 2024 ^[1]. She has also taught a graduate-level course entitled "Law and Ethics of Higher Education" in Northwestern's School of Education and Social Policy ^[2]. Before joining the Office of General Counsel, she was a commercial litigator with a large law firm in Chicago ^[2].

Harjani received her undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Illinois and her law degree from Northwestern University's Pritzker School of Law ^[2].

Harjani has been a NACUA member since 2004 and serves on the association's Board of Directors ^[1]. She has served on the Committee on Program for Annual Conference, the Committee on Legal Education, the Board Advisory Council on Diversity and Inclusivity, the Committee on Strategic Planning, and the Committee on Membership and Member Services, with leadership roles as Chair and Vice Chair of the NACUANOTES Editorial Board. She is also a frequent moderator and presenter at NACUA workshops, conferences, and webinars ^[2].
