Darron Farha

Darron C. Farha is Vice President and General Counsel of Valparaiso University and secretary of its board of directors. He joined the university in November 2009 as its first General Counsel ^[1]. His practice is centered on higher education law, and he has frequently presented at NACUA conferences on university governance and the roles and relationships of a university general counsel ^[2].

Before joining Valparaiso, Farha served as General Counsel for Pittsburg State University and as an associate attorney with the law firm Wheeler & Mitchelson in Pittsburg, Kansas. His areas of practice have included commercial law, civil litigation, corporate law, employment law, taxation, and real estate law ^[1]. He is licensed to practice law in Indiana and before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana ^[1].

Farha earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Pittsburg State University, a Master of Business Administration from Washburn University, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Kansas ^[1]. He holds memberships with the Indiana State Bar Association, the Porter County (Indiana) Bar Association, and the National Association of College and University Attorneys.

Farha is active in higher education legal organizations. He served on the Board of Directors of the National Association of College and University Attorneys (class of FY 2015–2018) and on several NACUA committees, including the Committee on Finance and Audit, where he served several terms as Vice Chair and as Chair of the Subcommittee on Investments ^[2]. He also serves on the Legal Services Review Panel for the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU) ^[1].
