Christopher Lott

Christopher Lott serves as Deputy General Counsel at Duke University ^[2]. In addition to providing leadership for the Office of Counsel, he advises on admissions, antitrust, athletics, harassment and discrimination, disability, diversity, financial aid, student and academic affairs, FERPA and privacy, and Title IX matters. He also manages complex civil litigation for the University and serves as the University's Antitrust Compliance Officer ^[2].

Lott's practice is concentrated in higher-education law. At Duke he sits as a member or ex officio participant on several university committees appointed by the President, including the Advisory Committee on Investment Responsibility, the Athletic Council, and the Institutional Compliance Advisory Committee, reflecting the breadth of his advisory role within the institution ^[1].

Before joining Duke's Office of Counsel in 2014, Lott worked in the education practice group at Hogan Lovells in Washington, D.C., where he represented universities, school districts, and other companies in the education sector. Earlier, he served as a Team Leader in AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps ^[2].

Lott is a graduate of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and Duke University School of Law ^[2].

Lott currently serves on the Board of Directors of the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA), the principal professional association for attorneys who represent colleges and universities ^[3].
