Timothy Tietjen is a personal injury attorney at Rouda Feder Tietjen & McGuinn in San Francisco, California.
Timothy G. Tietjen is a partner at Rouda Feder Tietjen & McGuinn, a personal injury firm in San Francisco, California. He was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1982 and spent a 40-year career handling complex, catastrophic personal injury cases before retiring from active practice; he continues to consult with the firm on major cases.[1][2]
Tietjen earned a B.A. from California State University, Hayward in 1979 and his J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1982. In his first trial as lead counsel in 1991, he obtained a $6.9 million verdict for a 70-year-old woman who became quadriplegic after falling from a loading dock in San Francisco.[2]
Over his career Tietjen secured a series of large results, including a $29 million settlement for a worker who lost both arms and became paraplegic after a bucket truck lift contacted a power line; a $23 million settlement for a young driver rendered quadriplegic after being run off the road by a drunk driver; a $47.5 million settlement for a boy struck by a fallen tree in a county park campsite, a case that produced two published appellate decisions on government immunity for dangerous conditions of unimproved property; and a $63 million bench trial verdict for a 30-year-old man who suffered permanent brain damage when a tree limb was dropped on his skull. He also recovered more than $50 million for clients who suffered property losses in the 2017 North Bay fires, in which he lost his own Napa home.[2]
Tietjen served as President of the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association and was twice nominated by the Consumer Attorneys of California for California Trial Lawyer of the Year. He has been recognized as a Super Lawyer in Northern California for more than 20 years and received the Consumer Attorneys of California Presidential Award of Merit in 2005. He has lectured and written frequently on topics related to personal injury litigation.[2][3][4]
