Carla Hartley

Carla J. Hartley was admitted to the State Bar of California on December 3, 1984, and holds an active license, bar number 117213.^[1] She is based in the San Francisco office of McLaughlin & Stern, LLP at 155 Sansome Street.^[1]

Hartley is a partner of the firm and represents employers in employment law matters, including wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation and whistleblower claims, leaves of absence, disability and religious accommodation, wage and hour issues, trade secrets and restrictive covenants, privacy rights, reductions in force, severance negotiations, and compensation and commission plans.^[2] She handles trials and arbitrations as well as proceedings before agencies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the California Civil Rights Department, federal and state labor commissions, and the San Francisco Office of Labor Standards Enforcement, and has experience with class, collective, and PAGA actions.^[2]

She also represents medical groups and other health care entities, handling governmental investigations, medical board reporting, and False Claims Act litigation, and was named chief financial officer of the California Society for Healthcare Attorneys for 2026-2027.^[2]
