Rose Fay Arfa

Rose Fay Arfa was admitted to the State Bar of California on December 1, 1981, and holds an active license under bar number 100143 ^[1]. She practices criminal law exclusively at Fay Arfa, A Law Corporation in Los Angeles, representing defendants in trials, appeals, and post-conviction matters such as motions for new trial, habeas corpus petitions, and resentencing petitions ^[2]. Arfa is certified as a specialist in both criminal law and appellate law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization, and the National Board of Trial Advocacy has certified her in criminal trial advocacy ^[2]. She reports having handled hundreds of criminal cases, tried more than 100 jury trials, and handled more than 500 criminal appeals ^[2]. In 2025 the National Board of Trial Advocacy presented her with its President's Award, and she has been selected to Super Lawyers ^[2]. Her reported cases include People v. Clark (1989) 212 Cal.App.3d 1233, Duke v. Gastelo, 64 F.4th 1088 (9th Cir. 2023), and Gibbs v. Covello, 996 F.3d 596 (9th Cir. 2021) ^[2]. Earlier in her career Arfa worked as an attorney for the Federal Aviation Administration and as a Los Angeles Deputy City Attorney. She graduated from UCLA cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, earned a Master of Public Administration from UCLA, and received her law degree from Southwestern University School of Law. She served as president of the Century City Bar Association in 2012-2013 and chaired its criminal law section from 1998 to 2011 ^[2].
