Donald Drewry
Attorney, The Law Office of Donald Gray Drewry · Oakland, CA
Donald Drewry is a DUI defense attorney practicing in Oakland, California.
Donald Gray Drewry is a criminal defense attorney in the East Bay whose practice is devoted almost entirely to defending clients charged with driving under the influence (DUI). He was admitted to the State Bar of California on December 14, 1992, and holds an active license [1].
Approximately 95 percent of Drewry's practice consists of DUI and DWI representation, covering both criminal court proceedings and DMV administrative per se hearings throughout Northern California, including San Francisco, Oakland, Hayward, Pleasanton, Fremont, Martinez, Walnut Creek, and San Jose. He attends multiple DUI defense seminars each year to stay current on changes in DUI law and defense techniques. In December 2000 he was one of six defense attorneys permitted to attend the Law in Action program at Indiana University, an intensive course on the effects of alcohol on the human body and on driving taught by forensic toxicologists Kurt M. Dubowski and A.W. Jones. He also developed a demonstrative-evidence CD on gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) that has been used by defense attorneys in several states.
Drewry graduated from Northwestern California University School of Law with a J.D. in 1991 and passed the California bar examination on his first attempt in July 1992. He is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Northern and Eastern Districts of California and before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and in February 1997 he was admitted to the bar of the Supreme Court of the United States.
Before practicing law, Drewry served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1969, receiving an honorable discharge as a Specialist 5. From 1982 to 1985 he was a reserve police officer with the Hayward Police Department, where his duties included traffic enforcement and making DUI arrests. He is a past president of the California DUI Lawyers Association and a member of the National College for DUI Defense.
