Stephen M. Garcia

Stephen Michael Garcia is the senior partner of Garcia & Coman, a Long Beach, California firm that represents victims of elder abuse and nursing home abuse and neglect. He was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1986, holds bar number 123338, and is an active licensee; the State Bar record lists Loyola Law School in Los Angeles ^[1]. Garcia & Coman handles nursing home abuse, neglect, and delayed-stroke-treatment cases nationwide from offices in Long Beach, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Louisville, New Orleans, and Maitland, and reports more than $3 billion recovered in actions in which its attorneys served as counsel, including a $38.6 million settlement under California's Elder Abuse and Dependent Adult Civil Protection Act and class action settlements against Manor Care and Holiday Retirement ^[2]. Garcia has served as counsel in litigation involving insurance bad faith, medical malpractice, elder abuse, nursing home abuse, and products liability. He was counsel for the plaintiff in Covenant Care, Inc. v. Superior Court, a 2004 California Supreme Court decision addressing heightened remedies under the Elder Abuse Act ^[3], and appears as plaintiffs' counsel in federal elder-care litigation such as United States of America v. Paksn, Inc. ^[4]. He is a member of the California Lawyers Association Litigation Section and of Consumer Attorneys of California.
