Ray Fang is a tax associate at Gunderson Dettmer. His practice focuses on federal tax matters for venture capital and growth equity funds, their sponsors, and the emerging growth and technology companies in which they invest. He advises on the tax aspects of fund and investment structuring, and on domestic and cross-border transactions throughout the lifecycle of high-growth companies and investment funds.

According to the firm, Fang draws on prior experience in a corporate transactional department and training in taxation and accounting to help clients implement tax-efficient structures while aligning economic and governance objectives. He works with fund managers, founders, and investors on tax issues arising in fund formations, financing transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and secondary liquidity events. He is currently pursuing an LL.M. in Taxation at New York University School of Law through its executive program for practicing attorneys.

Fang earned his J.D. from Cornell Law School, an M.S. in accounting with a focus on taxation and data analytics from the Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and a B.A. in business administration from the Paul Merage School of Business at the University of California, Irvine. He is admitted to practice in California and New York.
