Elizabeth Brann is a litigation partner at Paul Hastings representing technology and life sciences companies in patent disputes in courts, the ITC, and the PTAB.

Elizabeth Brann is a partner in the litigation department at Paul Hastings LLP, practicing from the firm's San Diego and Palo Alto offices. She represents technology and life sciences companies in complex litigation and has appeared in trial courts across the United States, the International Trade Commission, and the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board. She also works with clients on patent portfolio strategy. Her technical background spans electrical and biomedical engineering, with particular experience in computer hardware and software, medical devices, telecommunications, semiconductors, and consumer electronics.

According to the firm, Brann served as lead counsel in the long-running dispute between Align, the maker of Invisalign, and rival ClearCorrect, a 14-year matter involving litigation in U.S. district court, the Federal Circuit, and the International Trade Commission that resulted in a $51 million settlement for Align. Her other representations have included Samsung Electronics, Google, BioNTech, and Organovo in patent litigation. She has been named Litigator of the Week by The American Lawyer, recognized as a Legal Lion by Law360, and included in the Daily Journal's 2025 listing of California intellectual property lawyers.

Brann chairs the board of the Emilio Nares Foundation and previously chaired the board of the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program. She earned her J.D. from Harvard Law School in 2002, where she was editor-in-chief of the Harvard Journal of Law & Technology, and her B.S. in electrical and computer engineering, summa cum laude, from Marquette University in 1999. She is admitted in California and before the USPTO.
